Click on the download link provided in your purchase confirmation e-mail. You will have the choice of installing immediately or installing later. If you choose to install later, be sure to note where the download file is stored on your computer. You can install the program later by clicking on the file name.
When the download is complete, the file is ready for installation.
Installation requires a live Internet connection that is not blocked by a firewall or network settings.
1) Connect to the Internet if you are not already connected.
2) Temporarily disable any firewall or network settings that may block communication with our activation server. These settings may be reset to normal after the product is activated.
3) Click on 'yes' or 'install now,' or, if installing later, click on the name of the downloaded file.
4) When the activation screen appears, enter the activation code you received when you purchased the program. This is normally the email address at which you received the confirmation email. Enter carefully and exactly. Watch out for leading and trailing spaces that are not part of the code.
5) Press the activate button. The activation server will verify your activation code and activate your installation program provided you have an installation remaining.
6) Once the product is activated you no longer need an active Internet connection to use PassPrep.
7) The installation will continue automatically. Answer yes to all questions unless you have a reason to change defaults.
8) When installation is complete, a PassPrep icon will appear on your desktop. Click the PassPrep icon to launch the program and begin using PassPrep.
An error message stating "Page Not Found" or "Page Cannot be Displayed" indicates that either you are not connected to the Internet or a firewall is preventing the setup application from accessing the Internet. Consult your firewall documentation on how to temporarily disable it or configure it to allow setup to access the Internet. See below for some tips.
An error message stating 'Unable to generate Activation Code' indicates that the activation code you have entered does not match the one we have on record, or that you have used your allowed installations. Check your records to make sure you have entered your activation code correctly and try again. If your problem persists, call us at (866) 596-0448 during regular business hours (10 a.m. – 6 p.m. eastern time, M- F) or email us at support@passprepamerica.com and tell us how and when we can contact you by phone.
If you are having trouble with the activation/installation, turn off ALL firewalls, including Windows Firewall, until the activation is completed.
Windows Vista and newer versions of Windows XP automatically install Windows Firewall and turn it on. With older versions of Windows, you may have installed Windows Firewall and turned it on it as an option.
To turn off Windows Firewall, navigate to Security Center on Control Panel (either find a Control Panel icon on your desktop and click it, or select the Start button at the bottom of your screen, select Settings, Control Panel, Security Center.)
In Security Center, find the icon for Windows Firewall and click it. When the Windows Firewall window appears, check the Off box, click ok, and close the Security Center. You can come back and turn the firewall on again as soon as the PassPrep activation is complete.
Your system may have put a shortcut to Windows Firewall on the taskbar. In this case, just right-click it and follow the procedure for clicking the Off box, as above.
Other firewalls, such as Norton, CA, Panda, Kaspersky, and ZoneLabs, usually put an icon on the taskbar at the bottom of your desktop. You can right-click on the icon and turn off the firewall for 30 seconds, which should be more than enough for the activation. Alternatively, open your security product's main screen, find the firewall component, and turn it off temporarily.
Some popup blockers and anti-spyware programs may interfere with activation also. Try disabling these programs if you are still have a problem with activation after turning off firewalls.
